One way ticket

That was a long vacation. Last two months I have read a lot of business and philosophy books. And the same happened with thinking. During the reading last book of Jack Trout "In Search of the Obvious: The Antidote for Today's Marketing Mess" I realized arguing with the author. Some points were controversial. I ask questions to myself, starting from defining my mission, values, strategy and vision and ending such questions like "Why do I need a Harvard Univ.? Is it really necessary for me? or Why a Team is important? Why feeling taking care is necessary?". I have read few autobiographies. Lee Kuan Yew's "The Singapore Story" is my favorite.

Last two months I tried to figure out who I am and in what direction should I go. Several things happened in my life.

I sold out my part of business. The business was KMA Store, which is an online store, where students and alumna of National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy can buy clothes (t-shirs, hoodies, cups, pens, etc.) with a logo of th у university. We did business together with Orest since February 2011 and I sold my part to our the clothest competitors. It was real M & A. So, now we have create a monopoly market in a country call "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy". It was quite hard decision, because I spent so much time, energy and money in order to develop this store. It became like a part of me. But I did that.

I dropped out of university. Dropping out of uni: sometimes it's the right choice. Kyiv-Mohyla Academy is the best what is in Ukraine, it is a good university, not ideal one, but good. After I realized my goals I did not find any correlation between KMA and what I want to do in life in terms of education. So I did that.

I bought one way ticket to China. And now I am sitting in the Boryspil airport and waiting for a flight to Moscow in order to have a transfer to the largest city by population in the world. One city like a half of Ukraine - 23 million people. Shanghai.

There are several reasons, why. I shared basic hypothesis of a friend of mine, who thinks that most of life will take place in the 21st century and that this century will most likely be not/less centered on Western world countries. So I want to experience Asia, particularly a country within a population of 1.35 billion people with GDP growth each year almost 8 percent. What is to be emerging market economy? How does it feel when in one year your government of the city builds 95 new metro stations? What kind of people they are if they can do such things, how do they see the future? The best way to learn is to get into real experience.

Also I think most of the problem exists because of lack of understanding. Unfortunately, understanding is not a destination or result. It is a keep going process. It is like learning the language. You start from the Beginner and end Proficiency level.

I have several goals, which I am going to achieve in China. But I am going to come back to Ukraine this year.

"And well, the future will tell me if I am right or wrong,
but at least I try to manage my life based on ideas above".

  5. I don't know you. I've accidentally come accross this blog and I think I'd like to follow it. I like people who are able to make such big but also well-judged decisions.

    Good luck!
